The Lexington Herald-Leader continues its steep decline, and today is the first day they’ll print only three issues a week. Kentucky’s second largest newspaper has been around for over a 150 years, but has been bleeding subscribers since 1990. This is part of a nationwide trend of decline among local news outlets. More people are getting their news online and for free. But exacerbating the Herald-Leader’s steep decline is their echo chamber of far-left policies, shutting conservatives out of the conversation, and offending their moral sensibilities. It’s not surprising that many conservatives just dropped their subscriptions. Perhaps if the Herald-Leader recommitted itself to objective journalism and carried some conservative commentary which respects the social and political views of a majority of Kentuckians, they could slow the trend.
