Drug overdose deaths in Kentucky are decreasing. This is the second year in a row. But the numbers are still high. Last year, 2,100 died from overdoses, mostly related to fentanyl. Kentucky’s drug policy leader Van Ingram says Narcan is one reason for the decrease. The Federal government has spent millions to make Narcan more available. But we need more than money to fight this. At the heart of the drug crisis is a spiritual crisis. Widespread drug addiction is a collective cry of the brokenness of humanity. Resources are helpful, but at the core we need to minister to the greatest needs of those who are struggling. And that’s the role of Christians and the church who are tasked with ministering to the broken.
