Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman is standing against the Biden Administration’s new rules that restrict coal and gas-fired power plants. These federal rules would force the commonwealth to drastically change its sources of energy. Kentucky’s electric grid is vulnerable and needs an infrastructure update—not mandates that make it more difficult for us to produce electricity. Prematurely shutting down coal-fired plants and unreasonable regulations have led to brownouts and electricity disruption. The Biden Administration should look for ways to support and update Kentucky’s primary sources of energy, not aggressively penalize them. As Coleman said in a statement, the Administration’s “package of job-killing energy regulations… would drive up prices on Kentucky families.” Coleman is challenging the Biden regulations with Attorneys General in 24 other states.
