Last week a Kentucky school board chairman resigned after a local official accused him of calling for political violence on a social media post. A Facebook comment from resurfaced from Jeffrey Miller the Erlanger-Elsmere school board chairman who said he would “be ok with the NRA” if the victims of mass shootings were Republicans. State Representative Steven Doan called for an apology and Miller’s resignation. Some are outraged at the cancel-culture surrounding this situation, insisting the comment was made in a moment of passion. But others see any call political violence as unacceptable for public officials. Doan and local residents won the day after Miller resigned, which is a reminder that those in office are accountable to the voters and the standards they expect of their leaders.
