Kentucky’s economy is on the move. According to the Rich States, Poor States report, the Commonwealth jumped to 24th in economic performance and rose to 27th in economic outlook. This is up from 44th in the nation in 2008. State Senate President Robert Stivers credits the state’s steady rise to: cutting taxes, passing pro-growth policies, and keeping government lean. Stivers said, “This is not the result of federal handouts or temporary trends. This is a direct outcome of the policies we’ve championed and the priorities we’ve codified in law.” Kentucky stands in sharp contrast to states burdened by high taxes and bloated budgets. The message is clear: fiscal discipline leads to prosperity. And Kentucky can credit conservative fiscal policies for the remarkable turnaround.
