A new bill in the Kentucky legislature would prohibit sanctuary policies and require local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration officials. Supporters say it’s a necessary step to uphold the rule of law and protect public safety. When local governments refuse to enforce immigration laws, it creates loopholes that allow illegal immigrants, some of whom are criminals,  to remain in our communities. This bill ensures that law enforcement can do its job without political interference from mayors and city governments. Opponents claim it could lead to profiling, but the reality is simple—immigration laws exist for a reason, and they’re for everybody’s good. Kentucky shouldn’t undermine federal enforcement. Upholding the law isn’t extreme; it’s the duty of every government official to uphold it.
