Kentucky is moving ahead with medical cannabis dispensaries. 36 businesses received licenses by a lottery. This was out of 5000 applicants. The idea was to level the playing field for cannabis growers to take part in the industry. But many Kentucky farmers are crying foul after 3/4 of the contracts were awarded to out-of-state companies who are accused of gaming the system. According to Smart Approaches to Marijuana, there’s big money in the medical cannabis industry. In fact, they’re calling it the new big tobacco. But regular cannabis use is much more dangerous than tobacco ever was. The Beshear Administration is defending the lottery process, but some are saying that it was corrupt and changes need to be made.
