Last month, vicious floods tore through eastern Kentucky, devastating the area. Since the waters subsided, Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers remain on site, aiding in recovery efforts. The volunteers are staying at a local church in Pikeville and helping to rebuild and clean up. They’re also distributing Bibles. Nearly 800 volunteer days and 7000 hours of work have been done over the last two weeks alone. Other groups are staying at churches in the area, providing thousands of meals and hundreds of showers and laundry loads. The work of these men and women is a lifeline to local residents. But just as powerful is the hope and love these volunteers offer in a time of need and suffering.
