According to a story in the Louisville Courier-Journal, Jefferson County public schools spent over $21,000 per student. Fayette County spent even more. Unfortunately, the massive amount spent on Louisville public school students isn’t translating into success. JCPS test scores are abysmal. And 75 percent of students are not proficient in reading or math. So what’s going on? Instead of prioritizing academic success, the district spent $60 million last year on DEI programs. They faced a teacher shortage and a bussing debacle—all within the last 14 months. JCPS employs nearly 1,000 administrators whose high salaries haven’t justified their positions. In a word, they are failing—they’re failing in their most fundamental task, which is educating students so they can become productive citizens.
