Director, Commonwealth Policy Center

Jack Phillips is in front of the Colorado Civil Rights Commission again. This time, he's being charged with not baking a cake for a transgender person who wanted to celebrate their seven-year anniversary of transitioning from male the female. They wanted a pink colored cake on the inside and blue frosting on the outside to represent their inner and outer identities. Phillips declined to provide the cake. They first asked for a Satan Cake, then they requested a sexually explicit one. Phillips is clearly being targeted and the Civil Rights Commission is holding a hearing to see if Phillips violated state law. Just three years ago we were told to "live and let live." This isn't the case for Phillips, which makes us wonder if anyone on the political left will stand up for tolerance and call this out.
