There's a high cost for racist comments. Just ask Papa John Schnatter, founder of Papa John's Pizza based in Louisville. Schnatter recently used the N-word in a company conference call that soon became public. He's since apologized but not without consequence. He's been pushed off the board of U of L. And the school is scrubbing the Papa John’s logo off Cardinal's stadium. UK which houses the “John H. Schnatter Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise,” will be taking his name off of it too. Some might argue that the consequences are extreme and out of step with the offense. Whatever the case, racial slurs are ugly and we're learning that when racism rears its ugly head in a nation that’s trying to heal old wounds, the consequences are severe and swift.
