Since Donald Trump took office, illegal crossings at the southern border have decreased dramatically. They’re down 94% compared to the same time last year. In the last seven days alone, Border Patrol agents apprehended less than 6% of the number of illegal immigrants they encountered during the same week in 2024. This is a huge decline. According to Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks, the turnaround is directly related to Trump’s executive order declaring securing the southern border a national emergency. Besides more enforcement personnel, there’s been greater cooperation with local and state authorities. This has led to an unprecedented reduction in illegal immigration. Come to find out, it didn’t take an act of Congress to do this. It took a president willing to enforce our immigration laws.
