Western Kentucky University is in the middle of a controversy for hosting a drag queen show attended by children. The show was hosted by the WKU Housing and Residence Life to “learn about the history of drag and watch WKU students and alumni perform.” When we think of higher education, we think of academics, serious contemplation about the big issues of the day, and preparing our best and brightest to lead our state. We don’t think about activities and events that celebrate sex provocateurs. One photo from the event has outraged many. In the photo, a four-year old girl is seen handing a tip to a drag queen. Regardless of where one stands on the issue of drag in public places, everyone should agree that children should not be exposed to this.
This is about as sick as it gets. To think that in the name of higher education WKU would sponsor such an event .
You guys need to stop hopping on the internet and lying for fun. This event was not marketed towards children and as someone who was there I only saw 1 kid who left early. Posting false information is so damaging and lazy.
