Democratic National Committee Vice Chair David Hogg argues that Democratic candidates should double down on leftism. However, this is what Democratic candidate for president Kamala Harris did in the 2024 election. Her commitment to controversial and radical policies proved offensive to middle America and it cost her the election. If Democrats continue on this path, it will likely cost them the mid-terms as well. Historically, the party out of the White House tends to succeed in the mid- terms. A priority for candidates in both parties should embrace common-sense policies that uphold human dignity, the rule of law, and greater opportunity for every American. Democrats that defy these ideals may find out the hard way next year, that radicalism isn’t what the voters want.
