CPC Honors State Rep. Walker Thomas with Friend of the Commonwealth Award

(Frankfort, KY) -The Commonwealth Policy Center is honoring State Rep. Walker Thomas (R-Hopkinsville) with the 2022 Friend of the Commonwealth award. This goes to state House and Senate members who are dedicated to upholding conservative values that make the commonwealth a better place to live and raise a family.
“We give legislators — state representatives and senators — this award when they work to uphold the pillars of society: the sanctity of life, religious freedom, marriage between a man and a woman and fiscal responsibility,” said Richard Nelson, CPC’s executive director.
State Rep. Walker Thomas is receiving this award for his cosponsorship of HB 3 (Humanity in Healthcare Act), HB 23 (Save Women’s Sports Act), and HB 43 (Church is Essential Act).
CPC will honor him with this award on May 6th at the Christian County Republican Party Lincoln Dinner.
The award says: “In appreciation for your bold and courageous leadership to strengthen to societal pillars of the commonwealth of Kentucky in the 2022 General Assembly Session. Thank you for your service. Future Generations are indebted to you.”
Other recipients for the 2022 regular session include:
- Sen. Robby Mills, primary sponsor of Senate Bill 83, a measure requiring students between sixth grade and college to play on sports teams based upon their biological sex;
- Sen. Max Wise, primary sponsor of Senate Bill 321, a 15-week abortion ban that was later added to the provisions of HB 3 when the legislation achieved final passage;
- Sen. Don Douglass, freshman Senator for a strong voting record and support of CPC’s pillars
- Rep. Ryan Dotson, primary sponsor of HB 23 which protected fairness in women’s sports, co-sponsor of HB 3, and HB 43;
- Rep. Matt Lockett, co-sponsor of HB 3, HB 23 and HB 43;
- Rep. Shane Baker, primary sponsor of HB 43, Churches are Essential Act. This bill also prohibited state discrimination against nonprofit religious organization.
- Rep. Bill Wesley, co-sponsor of HB 3, HB 23, and HB 43.
“We just want to share and show our appreciation to those legislators who, again, are working for the values that make Kentucky a better place,” Nelson said. “This is just our opportunity to do that, to honor them publicly with this Friend of the Commonwealth Award.”
