The Louisville Courier-Journal recently published an expose on a classical Christian school called Highlands Latin School. The series of stories maligns the school as uncaring and harsh. HLS has very high academic standards with ACT scores that are off the charts. In a word, it’s thriving, with many satisfied students and parents. Currently, there are over 700 enrolled in the school. It’s interesting that in a time where violence has broken out in several of Louisville’s public schools and abysmally low test scores prevails in many, the Courier-Journal is attacking a successful Christian school. They did not establish any criminal or negligent activity by teachers, but rather they focused on personal grudges from former students. Such hit pieces are unhelpful, and is just the latest reason why the Courier-Journal is declining in subscribers.
