Controversy is surrounding Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, who gave a commencement address criticizing LGBT Pride Month and saying that most women want to be homemakers and mothers. Butker is a devout Catholic and gave his remarks at Benedictine College, where they were well received. But many left-wing activists are attacking and calling for the Super Bowl champion Chiefs to fire him. ESPN host Samantha Ponder said, “I think the petition that he should be fired from the Chiefs is totally un-American. Is a Catholic espousing traditionally Catholic views to a Catholic audience really be that shocking?” She’s exactly right. Butker exercised his religious freedom and shared his convictions at a like minded university, and he shouldn’t lose his job as a consequence.
