The Biden administration announced that it is working to overrule state laws that preserves women’s sports. The administration released a proposal that would nullify laws banning transgender athletes from playing in sports that don’t align with their biological sex. Pres. Biden is working to modify Title IX to explicitly say that such laws amount to gender discrimination. This is a clear violation of states rights. Critics say this move reveals what the Biden administration thinks about women. Christiana Kiefer, senior counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom, says that, “The Biden administration’s rewriting Title IX degrades women and tells them that their athletic goals and placements do not matter.” If the Biden administration is interested in supporting women’s sports, supporting laws that keep men out of their competitions is a good place to start.
