Governor Andy Beshear requested federal aid from the Trump administration to support Kentucky flood victims, seeking individual assistance for those impacted. As FEMA begins its response, local organizations have already stepped in to meet urgent needs. Local churches have stepped up. So has Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief, which quickly mobilized thousands of trained volunteers, providing meals, clean-up crews, and essential supplies to affected communities. Altogether, over 1,000 people were rescued and over 200 are being sheltered at state parks and churches. While federal assistance plays an important role for long-term recovery, the swift action of churches and local groups highlights the importance of local efforts for immediate disaster relief. In times of crisis, it’s often these community-driven responses that bring immediate hope and help to those who need it most.
