The 2025 College Free Speech Rankings were just released, and the most prestigious universities in the country—like Harvard and Columbia—rank dead last. How can our nation’s best universities be the worst at fostering a free exchange of ideas? Conservative students have been long-maligned at these schools. The October 7 attacks on Israel brings this issue to the forefront after they sparked anti-semitic harassment and violence. University presidents responded with cowardice, and many were fired. The same study found that two-thirds of current students oppose having campus speakers who oppose transgenderism or BLM. It’s clear that our nation’s top schools are in trouble when a free and safe exchange of ideas is no longer the standard.
