Americans are increasingly leaving liberal states for conservative ones. Since 2020, New York, Illinois, and California have seen the greatest exodus across their borders. It’s no coincidence that these states have higher taxes and higher rates of crime. In contrast, the states which have adopted sound social and fiscal policies have grown. Florida and Texas have adopted educational freedom and small government policies while pushing back against the radical ideologies in public schools. Kentucky grew some, but it’s not yet a popular conservative destination. Americans want to move to states with pro-family and pro-growth public policy. Hopefully Kentucky can learn from this and continue to make itself attractive to other Americans seeker more freedom and opportunity.
