The American Society of Plastic Surgeons broke from the medical establishment to become the first major American medical organization to challenge transgender procedures for minors. The ASPS said that there is “considerable uncertainty as to the long-term efficacy for the use of chest and genital surgical interventions.” Plastic surgeons across the country are acting on the evidence they’re seeing with their patients. Transgender procedures bring physical and mental harm, not health. Since this professional group of plastic surgeons has pushed back against a popular narrative embraced by the healthcare establishment, it’s likely that other medical professionals will follow suit. The European medical community is largely rejecting medical intervention for trans minors. It appears the U.S. medical community is following suit.
