Jerry Lundergan and Dale Emmons were indicted by the FBI over making illegal campaign contributions to Allison Grime's U.S. Senate Campaign in 2014. Both are political heavyweights and influential in Democratic politics. But political scandal crosses party lines. Republican Congressmen Duncan Hunter and Chris Collins haves been indicted for using campaign dollars for personal benefit. Pres. Trump criticized Attorney General Jeff Sessions for making the indictments before the election. A couple of thoughts come to mind. First, corruption is common when power and money and influence are involved. And neither political party is immune from the abuse of power. Attorney General Sessions did the right thing by upholding core principles instead of political power because honesty and integrity matter more than political allegiance.
