Recent indictments in Louisville revealed a fraud and kickback scheme regarding granting of drivers licenses to non-citizens. Five people were charged for accepting payments between $200 and $1,500 to help non-U.S. citizens bypass testing and secure a Kentucky drivers license. This happened under Gov. Andy Beshear’s Transportation Cabinet and was a gross betrayal of public trust. Gov. Beshear hasn’t said much since the investigation is ongoing. One thing is clear: it’s paramount for our leaders to safeguard the process to receive official documents like drivers licenses. Failure to do so puts all of us in danger on the roads and undermines the legitimacy of our state government.
