The American Civil Liberties Union is dropping its lawsuit to overturn Kentucky’s pro- life protections. The challenge originated when a woman couldn’t access legal abortion in Kentucky. They argued that this woman’s decisions are no business of the state. However, the state legislature has determined that human life, even in the womb is worthy of protection by the state. Something we may take for granted today. Kentucky Attorney’ General Russell Coleman celebrated the dismissal as a great pro- life victory. But the ACLU says the fight is far from over. A spokesperson said they are strategizing their next steps in the fight—a reminder that maintaining the right to life for all is a battle that continues primarily at the state level.
