The Kentucky Supreme Court upheld the murder conviction of a man who killed three adults and an unborn child. It’s an important ruling because the court held that there were four murders and not three. This is because they recognized the unborn child still in the womb. The ruling was based on Kentucky’s fetal homicide law, which passed in 2004. The state Supreme Court ruling is pro-life, recognizing the humanity of the unborn. The high court is likely to address Kentucky’s abortion ban in the coming years. Now, if killing a pregnant mother and her baby is wrong, doesn’t the unborn child also deserve protection from abortion? If the justices are consistent, they will continue to rule that unborn babies are persons with dignity and worth, deserving full legal protection.
