A legislative committee revealed that Kentucky taxpayers are funding prisoners’ gender transitions. The Department of Corrections is also housing biological males in women’s prisons. Now, Republican lawmakers roundly condemned it. Senate Majority Leader Damon Thayer (R-Georgetown) said, “I don’t think the taxpayers of Kentucky are really interested in paying for hormone replacement therapy or transgender surgeries for people who have been found guilty of committing crimes against the commonwealth.” Thayer criticized the Beshear administration for allowing this and called it an “insult” to Kentucky taxpayers. Gov. Andy Beshear and his administration is trying to justify this policy by saying they’re following  federal law. But few states do this and in the end, there is no justification for using taxpayer dollars for gender transitions on convicted criminals.
