A Georgia woman named Amber Thurman died of septic shock after complications from an attempted abortion. Abortion advocates say medical professionals denied her care because of Georgia’s abortion ban. This is patently false. Georgia law does not deny care for women who are facing a health crisis, including from a failed abortion attempt. The real fault lies with the side effects the abortion drugs taken by Thurman. The FDA had recently loosened its regulations. Until recently, the FDA said these drugs should be considered unsafe and not be taken for expecting mothers in Thurman’s stage of pregnancy. These are the facts that too many legacy media outlets failed to reporting and they should be ashamed for pushing a political narrative instead of reporting the truth.
