Gov. Andy Beshear is promoting Kentucky’s economic gains. In the last two weeks, his office has released no less than 20 press releases touting economic development across the state for which he claims credit. It’s receiving national news coverage, and he is making it a cornerstone of his reelection campaign. Now this is ironic because Kentucky’s economic success results from free market principles, not the Governor’s policy positions. Republican candidate Daniel Cameron’s campaign pointed this out by saying Beshear “wants to take credit for the revenue surplus while he fought the tax and budget policy set by Republicans.” Beshear is a big government interventionist when it comes to the free market, and his policies, if enacted, would not have resulted in the economic gains that he’s claiming credit for.
