Pres. Biden’s unilateral attempt to override state legislatures and duly enacted laws to keep biological men off of women’s sports teams was halted by a federal judge. Kentucky enacted the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act earlier this year. The measure keeps men off of women’s sports teams. Transgender men like UPenn swimmer Lia Thomas, have unfairly competed in college women’s sports. This brings us to Kentucky, where female star swimmer Riley Gaines, who tied with the male swimmer in the national championships earlier this year. Gaines was nominated to be the NCAA women’s athlete of the year. However, so was Lia Thomas. And now Gaines is crying foul and called Thomas’ nomination “a slap to the face for female swimmers.” The 2022 NCAA’s Woman of the Year will be named in January 2023.
