“International medical groups call for caution on hormonal and surgical interventions,” read a headline at World Magazine, a Christian-based publication. The headline at The Hill said, “Most US adults oppose anti-LGBTQ+ education policies, new research shows.” The research was done by the Trevor Project, a pro-homosexual think tank. They also purportedly found that a majority of adults also support transgender therapy if it’s recommended by their doctors. So what do you believe? Every journalist and publication has a set of presuppositions, underlying unspoken commitments. As we read the news, it’s important to understand the presuppositions of those telling the stories. But we must first begin with understanding our own if we’re to make sense of such contradictory stories.
