Have you noticed the rainbow flag showing up on your social media site and at your favorite store? That’s because the month of June has been designated as LGBT Pride Month and is now officially proclaimed by President Biden. What started out as a day turned into a month. In contrast, Memorial Day, a day we reflect on the sacrifice made by thousands of American soldiers, is celebrated for just one day. Meanwhile, a whole month has been deemed necessary to celebrate so-called “Pride.” The celebrations of a nation reveal where that nation’s priorities and values lie. We once celebrated things that instill virtue and honor sacrifice in the American people. But our appetites are crowding out virtue and honor as unvirtuous choices take their place.
