Hundreds of parents and kids rallied at the Kentucky Capitol in favor of having a high school sports season. They carried signs and urged state officials to “Let Them Play” fall sports. The Kentucky High School Athletics Association responded by voting to have a fall sports season. This was good news to the thousands of Kentucky kids who play fall sports. Brian Young, a parent from Garrard County, helped organize the event and said its “not about red or blue; it’s about the children. Everybody wants to keep our kids safe, not just physically, but we have to keep them safe mentally.” Young wants the governor to consider the physical, mental, and emotional impact closing the season has on student-athletes. The fall sports season is set to open on September 7.
