Ever since the Tiananmen Square Massacre in China, Hong Kong residents gathered every year to remember the brave souls who stood up to Chinese tyranny. This year, police ordered Hong Kongers to not gather, purportedly to because of coronavirus. But this is a political ploy since the virus is virtually wiped out there. Nonetheless, thousands of residents eventually defied the order and gathered in Victoria Park. The Chinese communists have done all within their power to censor this ugly history of violence toward peaceful demonstrators. It’s impossible for Chinese residents to find any information on the internet about Tiananmen because government censors are purging their ugly history from social media and search engines. Hong Kongers are teaching us many lessons, among them that there are some things we must never forget.
