Deadly Shootings Continue August 13, 2019 by Staff

Last week's mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas have gripped the nation. Mass violence is becoming all too common and many are pointing fingers. Some say it's because of lax gun laws and the rise of white nationalism. Other's blame a culture of violence that makes mass shootings more thinkable. Whatever the explanations, there's no shortage of blame. But in times of tragedy when a community deals with loss and families grieve over lost loved ones, there's a better response than blame. How about care, compassion and sympathy for the hurting families and their community? Instead of blame, ask yourself what you can do right now to foster a climate of love and care. Creating such a climate might be as simple as reaching out to someone in your path today that is hurting and simply needs a word of encouragement.
