U of L Ramsey Resigns August 1, 2016 by Staff

Last Wednesday, University of Louisville President James Ramsey resigned. Several scandals under his watch, including millions of dollars embezzled by employees, misspent federal dollars, jailed professors and the latest—strippers used to lure recruits to the U of L basketball program led to his ouster. Nonetheless, Ramsey will receive  $690,000 in a severance package from the university. Filling the role as Interim President is the U of L Provost—Dr. Neville Pinto. So what can we learn from this?: Scandals have consequences, Too many scandals in a few years - leads to suspicion that those governing at the top are either complicit or incapable of doing the job properly. The takeaway for the interim president is that we expect our leaders to create a culture of high expectations and that accountability of public officials is of utmost important.
