Thanksgiving November 21, 2018 by Staff

The first Thanksgiving in America was in 1621, when Gov. William Bradford called for a celebratory feast after a good corn harvest. Bradford and the pilgrims barely made it through the first winter. Half their number had died. And those that made it didn't know how to feed themselves in the new world. Yet they still gave thanks to God for the lives that did make it. They were thankful for Squanto who helped them live off the land. In all their trials and heartache, the pilgrims still found reasons to be thankful. So when you're gathered around the dinner table with family today and feeling irritated by an annoying relative or someone’s bad manners, look past minor offenses and consider the sacrifice and hardships endured by those who've gone before us. Give thanks to God today and may each of you enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving!
