RPK asks Candidate to Drop Out October 8, 2016 by Staff

So what is a political party to do when one of their candidates posts racist and derogatory comments on social media sites? They ask them to drop out of the race. Such is the case with Republican candidate Dan Johnson who is running for Kentucky's 49th House seat. Johnson posted photos on Facebook that likened President Barack Obama and the first lady as monkeys. In one he's draped in a confederate flag and calls for the banning of Islam. As a result,  Kentucky GOP chairman Mac Brown and Republican House Minority Leader Jeff Hoover asked Johnson to drop out of the race. They acknowledged that while he has a First Amendment right to free speech, elected leaders "must hold ourselves and those with whom we serve to a higher standard."
