Government isn't everything April 27, 2018 by Staff

The 2018 Kentucky General Assembly is in the books. Legislators considered nearly 900 bills. But too often government is viewed as the only solution to address pressing issues of the day. Have you ever considered that government can't adequately address all the issues? We too easily forget that there are other entities that can address a need. Families and neighbors provide relational support. Churches address spiritual needs and mercy ministries like food banks and clothing closets provide materially for people.  Legislators may pass a law making opioids harder to get but they cannot address the demand. They might create a better economic climate but they can't legislate personal initiative. Our government is meant to be limited in its reach, while our freedom as citizens is meant to be maximized—this is in order for us to more precisely address the needs at hand.
