Good Friday March 30, 2018 by Staff

Today is Good Friday, one of the holiest days for Christians around the world. You might wonder why it’s called good when you consider that's the day Jesus Christ, God's son, died on the cross.  The events leading up to the crucifixion involved betrayal, denial and abandonment of a righteous man, not just man, but God himself. It seemed like mob rule would win the day. Anger, hatred, jealousy and resentment seemed to prevail. But that wasn't the case. The story ends with Jesus' resurrection three days later. Christianity teaches that Jesus died for the sins of mankind and that by repentance and faith in him, a sinful mankind could be reconciled to a righteous and holy God. And this great act of love and sacrifice is the good news of Good Friday.
